And those are the reasons why the post-vacation journal I was meaning to write after I went on a trip to Singapore got delayed for practically three months. I regret that I might've already forgotten some of my memories of that trip because of it. Then again, I don't think I will forget the experience ever, particularly the graciousness of old and new cosplay friends we met there.
It was just a straight-up vacation; Marko, Dom and I didn't go to Singapore that time in September to attend any cosplay event. We were simply there to unwind. But being the clueless tourists that we were, we don't know which places to visit in Singapore. It was a great thing that the cosplay friends we got to know in previous conventions (Anime Festival Asia in 2012, in my case) took time off their busy schedules to host us. Thanks to them, we got to enjoy quick tours and saw the Merlion and their busy Chinatown. We even got to visit the Garena Stadium, and we also saw a place where I found my epic Hulk shirt.
Yeah, goodbye, diet.
We had a lot of fun moments to take away from that vacation. One is our friends from FLEX Cosplay invited us to take a peek at their epic Slam Dunk photoshoot. We became Rukawa's impromptu cheerboys.
Or Rukawa's Avengers.
The single most fun karaoke night I have ever experienced in my life happened not in my home country, but in Singapore. We belted our lungs out at Teo Heng on our third and final night and we ended up going at it until just past midnight.
We also recreated that scene from The Lion King.
Shoutout to Drefan, Kenneth, Sharlene, Shinji, Maomao, Fariz, Songwen, Liz, Kosmo, Lockie, Skyy, Renn, Lea, Khym, Vincent, Shizu, VSihan, Vio, Nik, Yumi, Justin, Clive, Caroline, Bryan and Belle! (Did I miss anyone? Nope.)
We hope to visit again and see you next year; and do consider vacationing in the Philippines someday! (Well, Justin already did.)
