Daniel Fleetwood, 32, was diagnosed with spindle cell sarcoma, a terminal, inoperable type of cancer, in July. His doctors told him that he wouldn't make it until Christmas this year.
He wanted to at least have his final wish fulfilled before he passes on: to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Daniel said his hope to watch Episode VII is his motivation to stay alive. However, his chances to see the movie seemed slim to near-non-existent because the movie won't be out until December. That was until a social media campaign using the hashtag #ForceforDaniel went viral; the campaign sought to ask Disney and director J.J. Abrams to grant Daniel's dying wish.
And his wish didn't fall on deaf ears.
Ashley also said Abrams even gave Daniel a phone call before they played the movie, and "it really made Daniel's day." And as per their confidentiality agreement with Disney, we're rest assured to get no spoilers.
Congratulations, Internet!
And may the Force be with you, Daniel.
