Just mention the phrase Street Fighter, and anyone will be readily reminded of that game that popularized the Hadouken. For a lot of gamers, the game has become a vital part of their childhood, and it is such a classic that a Hollywood movie adaptation of it is inevitable, but it spawned two—one in 1994 and another in 2009. In retrospect, I find it disappointing that both movies failed to give justice to the game. But this is not about those two movies; this is about Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist, the first and the only movie that captures the very essence of the game that popularized the Hadouken. I finished watching all episodes of the film this past Sunday and I say that all the time I spent waiting for it to be released is worth every second. From the marvelous cast to amazing locations, authentic costumes and set designs to remarkable fight scenes and musical scoring, not to mention a great story to tell, this fan-made movie tribute to Street Fighter nailed it at practically every significant spot.

It was revealed at the D23 Expo last August that Disney will produce the movie Maleficent, starring none other than Angelina Jolie. Maleficent is Jolie's first movie role in after three and a half years. She will play the enchantress who cursed the young Princess Aurora, who will be played by Elle Fanning, to eternal slumber. Anime studio GONZO is producing an animated film adaptation of Platinum Games' blockbuster hack-and-slash videogame Bayonetta. The movie is entitled Bayonetta: Bloody Fate, and is is based on a screenplay by Mitsutaka Hirota (Prince of Tennis, Marvel Anime's X-Men). Ai Yokoyama provides the character designs for the movie based on the original game art of Mari Shimazaki, who also serves as the movie's project supervisor.
