The Deadman made his presence felt in the final moments of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match between Lesnar and the reigning champion Seth Rollins at the Battleground pay-per-view last night. Lesnar was on the verge of winning the title after taking Rollins to "Suplex City" and delivering an exclamatory F5, when the lights went off and a familiar gong sounded before the referee could count the pinfall to three. As soon as the lights went back on, Rollins and the referee were nowhere to be found; in their stead, the Undertaker appeared in front of "the Conqueror".
The Phenom didn't forget. And he wants retribution.
As a result, the championship match went to a no-contest, and Rollins retained his championship. The Undertaker's retribution was complete; he had cost Lesnar his title shot--a seemingly perfect payback for his broken Streak.
This will most likely be a sign of a match between the "Demon of Death Valley" and the "Mayor of Suplex City" at the upcoming WWE pay-per-view, Summerslam. It's interesting to note, however, that the Undertaker had always come up short in all of the one-on-one matches he had with Lesnar--Unforgiven (2002), No Mercy (2002 and 2003) and WrestleMania XXX.
The dead has risen at Battleground, but surely this won't mean Lesnar will stay down. If a match between them is indeed set up at the summer pay-per-view, will the Phenom finally slay the Beast?
All we can do for now is wait.
