Capcom looked to redeem itself and wow the crowd in this year's PlayStation Experience (PSX) at the Anaheim Convention Center with two major reveals: First, a much-awaited character is finally making his return in Street Fighter V, and second, a new installment to the Marvel vs. Capcom series is going to be released next year!
The console trailer for Tekken 7 has just been revealed earlier today at the 2016 Electronic Entertainment Expo, and it was also revealed that the game will be released on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam.
Aside from the game modes introduced in the arcade version, Tekken 7 will also have a cinematic story mode that combines the familar Tekken gameplay with dramatic quick-time events and rich animated cutscenes, telling the final story of conflict between father and son Heihachi and Kazuya Mishima, the fate of the family matriarch Kazumi, and the involvement of Gouki/Akuma, the guest character from Street Fighter.
Tekken 7 comes to the latest-gen consoles and on Steam in early 2017.
Bandai Namco has just released a video on the tekkenchannel, detailing Tekken 7: Fated Retribution's new game features, as well as an overview of returning character Nina Williams (in her new killer bride costume) and the much-talked-about guest character, Street Fighter's "Master of the Fist", Gouki.
Tekken Project director Katsuhiro Harada had just announced at the recently ended Tekken 7 King of Iron Fist Tournament 2015 in Tokyo that an update to the arcade game is currently in development, called Tekken 7: Fated Retribution. And the most exciting part of that announcement is the launch of the trailer that reveals a new character: the Supreme Master of the Assassin's Fist himself, Gouki from Street Fighter!
Tekken 7's story trailer from last year's San Diego Comic Con shows a scene several decades before the current timeline, where Kazumi Mishima was visited by a mystery character. She told the shadowy figure that her husband Heihachi would eventually realize that their son Kazuya had inherited her Devil Gene, and she asked him to kill Heihachi should she fail and die trying to stop him, or else, who knows what destruction he will cause to the world.
The trailer after the break finally reveals the mystery man to be Gouki all this time, who says he will repay his debt to Kazumi when the time comes. His involvement in the Mishima Saga appears to be canon, and this marks the first time ever in fighting game history that a guest character played a key role in the host game's main story.
