This makes Cloud the sixth guest character to appear in the Smash series, following Solid Snake (in Super Smash Bros. Brawl), Sonic the Hedgehog, Rockman, Pac-Man and Ryu. His addition also makes Square Enix the fifth third-party collaborator to join the series after Konami, Capcom, Sega and Bandai Namco.
A blockbuster announcement from Nintendo just came out: Cloud Strife will join Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and WiiU! Nintendo hosted a character poll where gamers could put in a vote for whichever character they would want to appear as the next DLC character in the game. The poll closed in October 3, and from all the fan nominations, the developers ultimately chose the protagonist of Final Fantasy VII, who will now officially join the roster despite debuting on the Sony PlayStation.
Now this I didn't expect. For the first time ever since appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in 2003, the WWE's legendary Undertaker made a guest appearence in The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. In one of the show's segments, Jimmy read a letter from a suggestion box, asking him to get the Undertaker to appear on his show to deliver his trademark finishing move, the Tombstone Piledriver, to a man dressed as a turkey. Jimmy regretted he couldn't grant the late-notice request, citing that he doesn't know how to even contact "the Phenom". Then a familiar gong sounded; the Deadman cometh. And in a rare showing of generosity, Undertaker fulfilled the letter sender's request--and tombstoned a turkey-costume-wearing guy wrestling fans will recognize as Brad Maddox. Jimmy offered to shake the Deadman's hand afterwards, only to take it back in fear for his life. But at the end of the show, we'll see 'Taker sort of "warming up" to Jimmy with an arm on his shoulder. Jimmy looks like he appreciates the friendship. The Undertaker appeared on the show to promote the 29th annual Survivor Series on November 22, 2015 in Atlanta, GA, where he will celebrate his 25th anniversary in the WWE.
The Brothers of Destruction are back! The Undertaker and Kane reunited on the last episode of Monday Night Raw, emanating from England, to take revenge against the Wyatt Family. Everything stemmed from the ending of WWE Hell in a Cell, when Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper, Erick Rowan and Braun Strowman ambushed and took "the Phenom" away after his vicious main event match against the "Beast Incarnate" Brock Lesnar inside Hell in a Cell. The next day saw his half-brother try to avenge him, only to meet the same fate at the hands of the family. Bray then claimed in the succeeding episodes of Raw and SmackDown that after "harvesting the souls" of the "Last Outlaw" and the "Devil's Favorite Demon", he is now in command of the thunder and lightning. In a defiant tone, he claimed that there was no "passing of the torch"; instead, he took the torch for himself and used it to burn the brothers to ashes. But from those ashes, the reinvigorated, vengeful brothers emerged, looking to make Wyatt pay for his transgressions, but Wyatt wasn't alone; sensing danger, he summoned Harper, Rowan and Strowman from out of nowhere, looking to do damage to the brothers anew, but the brothers successfully fended off the family. The brothers downed Harper and Rowan with stereo chokeslams, and they withstood a double clothesline from the hulking Strowman, who they sent crashing into the announce table for his efforts. And as soon as Wyatt was left cornered and defenseless, the Undertaker and Kane brought him down with a double chokeslam to put an end to last Monday's Raw. This moment is surely going to lead to a match between the Brothers of Destruction and the Wyatt Family at Survivor Series. The question left to ask is if it's going to be a 4-on-4 traditional Survivor Series elimination tag team match, where the brothers will have to look for two more partners, or if it will be a regular tag team match between the "Deadman" and the Demon and any of the two Wyatt Family members. If I had my way, I'd want it to be 4-on-4, with the brothers partnering with Sting and another legend. Either way, I'm sure it's going to be awesome. The 29th annual Survivor Series, happening on November 22, 2015 in Atlanta, GA, marks the silver anniversary of the legendary Deadman, who made his debut in 1990.
Check out the opening anime movie of Project X Zone 2: Brave New World!
The opening theme song, "Sekai wa Hitotsu no Butai" (The World is One Stage) is composed by Yuzo Koshiro, with lyrics by Monolith Soft's Souichiro Morizumi, and performed by marina.
The game launched in Japan last Thursday, and has received a 32/40 rating from Famitsu. Developer Koji Ishitani earlier assured that all the content of the localized version will basically be the same with the Japanese release, so players waiting for its worldwide launch on February 16, 2016 (February 19 in some countries) can expect to have the song in its full glory in their own copies. Daniel Fleetwood is now one with the Force. The terminally ill Star Wars fan whose final wish was to see the upcoming film Star Wars: The Force Awakens, has succumbed to his disease--not before having his wish granted. Ashley, his wife, posted the following status on her Facebook page.
Daniel, along with his wife, became the first two people to see the seventh installment in the Star Wars film franchise thanks to an online campaign, #ForceforDaniel, that asked Disney and director J.J. Abrams to let him see the film before his time comes.
Rest in peace, Daniel. May the Force guide you in your journey to the stars. Kamen Rider and Segata Sanshiro. Two iconic characters portrayed by legendary Japanese actor Hiroshi Fujioka in two different time periods. Two characters who would eventually turn him into one of Japan's most influential cultural icons. But what if the two characters "meet" in a single setting? Below is a video of that exactly happening--a rare footage of Segata Sanshiro actually "transforming" into Kamen Rider in a Japanese variety show in 1998. Fujioka was first known for portraying Takeshi Hongo in the original Kamen Rider tokusatsu series in 1971. The series spawned two movies in 1971 and 1972, and his character still made appearances in succeeding Kamen Rider movies until 1975. He also voice his character in the Kamen Rider crossover special OOO, Den-O, All Riders: Let's Go Kamen Riders in 2011, and in 2014, he himself appeared to reprise his role as Hongo in Heisei Riders vs. Shōwa Riders: Kamen Rider Taisen feat. Super Sentai.
He's also known for giving life to the unforgettable Sega Saturn mascot Segata Sanshiro in 1997. His character made such a huge impact that his commercials boosted the sales of the console. The birth of the Dreamcast then ultimately meant Segata's "demise" in his final TV commercial in 1998, but not before having a game named after himself, Segata Sanshiro Shinken Yugi, and making cameos in other Sega games. Fujioka reprises his role as the voice of Segata, who is also confirmed to be a playable character in the Nintendo 3DS game Project X Zone 2: Brave New World. Fujioka is slated to play the role of Tadakatsu Honda in an upcoming taiga drama entitled Sanada Maru in 2016. The new set of character artworks for Tekken 7 are out. Katarina Alves, Claudio Serafino, Shaheen, Lucky Chloe, Josie Rizal, Gigas and Kazumi Mishima get their awesome character illustrations, compliments of returning Tekken artists JUNNY, Shunya Yamashita and Tomio Fujisawa, who all previously did special character artworks for Tekken Tag Tournament 2. The hackers are at it again. Some intrepid data miners who have the beta version of Street Fighter V unearthed some in-game audio files of a female voice announcing character names. Each character revealed so far in the game is among the discovered audio samples, along with other interesting names: Guile, Juri, Urien, Alex, Ibuki, Bison (Balrog/boxer) and Fan. You can hear the names here. It might most likely be that a new fighter is to be revealed next, and because of the leaked audio samples, it might be that the name of this next character is indeed Fan. And it naturally follows that Guile, Juri, Urien, Ibuki, Alex and Bison might indeed be the six post-release characters; the above silhouettes highly suggest so anyway.
Also in the same set of leaks are audio files of the same female voice announcing names of Capcom Pro Tour events and their host countries. It's still a wonder what role these will play in the final build of the game, so let's just all wait for SFV to come to the PlayStation 4 and the PC on February 16, 2016. Capcom has released more audio samples of theme songs for confirmed characters in Street Fighter V. They've previewed the themesongs for Ryu, Ken, Nash, Vega/Bison, and the Forgotten Waterfall stage last July, and just this past Tuesday, they've also put out samples for Balrog/Vega, Birdie, Cammy, Chun-li, Karin, Rainbow Mika, Necalli and Rashid. Click on a character (or the screenshot below) to listen to an audio sample. Samples for Zangief's, Laura's and Dhalsim's character themes have yet to be released. This post will be updated as soon as those BGM sample are made available.
But of course, it would be more awesome to hear the full versions of these BGMs, so let's wait until February 16, 2016, the release date of SFV for the PlayStation 4 and the PC. The second short teaser for The King of Fighters IV is out, and it features series veterans Leona Heidern and Chang Koehan. Yasuyuki Oda, who previously worked as the battle designer for Street Fighter IV at Dimps, is directing the game, so it can be expected that it will have certain aspects to it influenced by Capcom's fighting game. KOFXIV is still in its early stages of development, but SNK Playmore has already announced to release it in 2016 for the PlayStation 4. Check out the teaser below. |
