A video of the latest updated beta version of Street Fighter V for the PlayStation 4 surfaced online, revealing that the game will have a story/tutorial mode, and it shows training buddies Ryu and Ken Masters in their Street Fighter ZERO/Alpha incarnations. The first part of the video consists of illustrated cutscenes, starting with a portrait of Ryu in the present time. Players are then taken back to the days of SFZERO, particularly in a scene where Ryu just lost a sparring match with his master Gouken. Before leaving the boys, the elder Ansatsuken master reminds Ryu to think of the path to where his fists will take him, and also tells Ken to keep up with training or else Ryu will get ahead of him. Recovering quickly, Ryu asks Ken for another practice session after their master left. The scene then moves on to the tutorial mode, with Ryu and Ken in their younger incarnations and in today's graphics. Watch the video below. Ryu and Ken in their younger selves look awesome in SFV, and their players--especially those who dislike Ken's SFV look--would most likely be delighted to play them. The game is still in its beta stages, however, so things as they currently are might still be changed before the final version is released on February 16, 2016.
Many were disappointed when the original Project X Zone was released only in Japan in 2012. It's thanks to TEKKEN Project director Katsuhiro Harada's push to have the game localized that non-Japanese-speaking gamers were able to enjoy the game with English subtitles in June 2013. Now, Monolith Soft aims to take this up more than a notch with their sequel, Project X Zone 2: Brave New World, when it gets released overseas in 2016. Not only will PXZ2 be released in Japan, America and Europe; it will also reach the shores of Taiwan, Hong Kong and South Korea. The game keeps the characters' respective Japanese voices intact, but the story can now be understood in the players' language of choice. As I've written in my first-ever PXZ2-related news, the American version will have English, French and Spanish subtitles, while the European release will also include Italian and German subtitles aside from the aforementioned. The Korean release, naturally, will have Korean subtitles, while Taiwan and Hong Kong will get the game in plain Japanese. According to Monolith Soft's Koji Ishitani, these seven languages represented a 350% increase in the workload for localization alone. He also explained that PXZ2 has roughly double the amount of text compared to its predecessor, thereby making it a 700% increase in workload for the localization team. It also called for an increase in the size of the text window, as most translated text tend to be longer than in Japanese. The game also adds subtitle text windows that appear during pre- and post-battle scenes, mid-battle cut-ins and at the shop, for the benefit of players who want to understand what the characters are saying. This option can be toggled on or off, unlike in the original. PXZ also suffered form omissions, as the game's Japanese opening and ending themes--not to mention a lot of in-game soundtracks--were absent in the localized version due to legal constraints. Ishitani reveals that unlike the original, the content of PXZ2's localized versions will be "basically" the same as the original Japanese release, so we're rest assured to hear the game's opening theme song, marina's "Sekai wa Hitotsu no Butai", in its full glory.
And lastly, Japanese Nintendo 3DS owners can now digitally pre-order the game from the Nintendo eShop. When PXZ2 launches next week, those who have pre-ordered the game through eShop can connect online and unlock their copy of the game. The localized versions of PXZ2 will be available on February 16 (America) and February 19 (Europe), 2016. The Australasian release is yet to have a definite date next year. Source: Perfectly Nintendo Only a month has passed since Super Mario Maker was released for the WiiU, and a lot of players have already had their creative juices unleashed in their own custom-made Mario levels. One such user goes by the YouTube username KHace, who replicated nearly the whole first Rockman game complete with a playable Rockman. "The Blue Bomber" can be used in the game editor as an alternate sprite swap for Mario by unlocking him through his amiibo for Super Smash Bros. Since the stages are redesigned in the Mario environment, the gameplay would naturally follow the Mario style, and the absence of lesser enemies Robot Masters were compensated for by makeshift baddies from Goombas, Koopa Troopas, Hammer Bros., etc. Check out KHace's epic video below. Bandai Namco, through TEKKEN Project director Katsuhiro Harada, has just announced Tekken 7 for the PlayStation 4 at the Paris Games Week. Check out the full video of the announcement below. The trailer features the 20 years of the Mishima Saga that culminated in seven King of Iron Fist Tournaments. Tekken 7 will not only run on the Unreal Engine 4, but it will also support the PS4's upcoming new virtual reality technology, the PlayStation VR.
Harada-san and his team have been developing a VR game for the PS4, entitled Summer Lesson, since 2014. Read the official press release after the break. Bandai Namco revealed through a recent episode of its live streaming show 876 TV that another villain is returning in Project X Zone: Brave New World. VAVA, known as Vile in the West, returns to seek vengeance against Maverick Hunters X and Zero, this time in his MkII form. He will join Sigma, the recurring final boss in the Rockman X series, to antagonize the heroes in the cyberspace world based on Cyber Kujacker's (Cyber Peacock) stage in Rockman X4. The live stream demoed the Original Game Sound Edition of PXZ2, which will be available in Japan at the same time as the standard edition starting November 12. The localized version will be available in America on February 16, 2016, and in Europe on February 19 of the same year.
Here's to hoping that the West gets the same (or at least a similar) edition. And I'm still hoping that Albert Wesker will show up in the game. Capcom revealed a returning character in Street Fighter V at Paris Games Week; the veteran Dhalsim is making his return to the game, sporting an updated look. The Yoga master gifted with the powers of the Hindu fire god Agni now has red markings on his body and wears a turban during the entirety of the match, unlike in the Street Fighter ZERO series where he takes it off before fighting. He has also grown a beard as if to emphasize his further enlightenment with age. He utilizes his unique V-Skill Yoga Float, which allows him to float mid-air and perform attacks while airborne. His V-Trigger, Yoga Burner, has him breathe fire on the floor in front of him, setting it aflame for a limited time. His opponent can take recoverable damage when standing on it, and gradually heals back away from the burning floor. Check out his gameplay trailer after the break. Bandai Namco has officially revealed the recently leaked characters in the upcoming colossal crossover RPG Project X Zone 2: Brave New World. In addition, they also introduce new villains and non-playable event characters who will appear in the game.
Ingrid (Street Fighter ZERO3 Double Upper) and Ryo Hazuki (Shenmue) join the game as Solo Units along with the returning Estelle (Tales of Vesperia), while Vega/M. Bison (Street Fighter II), Pyron (Vampire/Darkstalkers), Black Hayato (Star Gladiator), Ranmaru (Sakura Wars) and Metal Face (Xenoblade Chronicles) wreak havoc anew with T-elos (Xenosaga) as Rival Units. Also, Ada Wong (Resident Evil 6), Miles Edgeworth/Reiji Mitsurugi (Ace Attorney/Gyakuten Saiban), Tiki (Fire Emblem Awakening), Cardinal Garigliano (Resonance of Fate/End of Eternity) and Tarosuke (Yokai Dochuki) will have their share of the limelight in the game's story. Check out the recently revealed cast's official character artworks, in-game portraits and screenshots after the break.
Capcom has just officially released the gameplay trailer for Street Fighter's newest character, Laura Matsuda.
Yep, she is the big sister of 3rd Strike's Sean. The heiress of the "Matsuda-style jiu-jitsu", Laura also employs the power of electricity (much like SF veteran and fellow Brazilian Blanka) in her bone-breaking submission special moves. Her V-Skill, Linear Movement, lets her quickly close in or move out of her opponent's attack range depending on the directional button held at input. She can also make use of the skill's overhead at neutral stance. When her V-Skill, Spark Show, is activated, her Linear Movement is improved, her attacks and throws get more hitstun, and her projectile move Thunder Clap gets more distance. Check out her gameplay trailer below.
SFV is scheduled for a 2016 release on the PlayStation 4 and the PC.
Russia's national wrestling hero Zangief returns to Street Fighter V, bringing new elements into his powerhouse moveset as revealed in the gameplay trailer down below.
While the Red Cyclone retains his traditionally familiar look, his wrestling moveset is enhanced further. He gains the V-Skill Iron Muscle, letting him absorb one attack leaving recoverable health. Holding down the V-Skill buttons while moving forward makes Zangief approach his opponent, and he will flex his iron muscles upon releasing the buttons, hitting an opponent close enough to him while he's flexing. He also gains a new attack in the form of a V-Trigger. His new Cyclone Lariat, has him tilt 45 degrees before spinning around with his arms stretched, pulling his opponent towards him in the process. Tapping the V-Trigger buttons will suck his opponent into his attack range, while holding them will let him continue spinning and hitting his opponent multiplt times. His Final Atomic Buster is replaced by a new Critical Art where he German Suplexes his opponent once, then forces his head further the ground as if he was driving a nail. A feature introduced in Tekken Tag Tournament 2 returns in Tekken 7 as the character profile customization option is now available to players of the arcade fighter. Players using Banapassport cards can now replace their fighters' default pre-match profile pictures with jbstyle's special character artworks. In a future update, illustrations by JUNNY, Shunya Yamashita and Tomio Fujisawa will also be available for use. This has been the first and latest Tekken-related update so far since the Summer Fest campaign ended last August. There are yet no news regarding new characters entering the game, but Tekken Project director Katsuhiro Harada said there will be big changes to the game's console version, so the game is still far from complete and more characters might yet be revealed. |
